His mission, along with others, was to \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003estrafe Bellows Field. Hoashi and his wingman claimed 3 aircraft destroyed on the ground. Hoashi \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eheld the rank of Buntaicho (usually a Lieutenant commanding a division) from November 1941 \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003euntil June 1942.
