Variants A and C are single-seat aircraft while B and D are tandem-seats. The Hornet can operate from either aircraft carriers or land bases with the capability of in flight refueling. On the tail of ALA 12 aircraft there is a black cat as its unit emblem. Spain ordered 60 EF-18A and 12 EF-18B Hornets (E=Espana, Spain) that were delivered between November 1985 and July 1990. The wing is equipped with the EF-18A\/B. In 2008 C15-34 c\/n 638\/A530 code 12-50 was given a special paint scheme to honor the ALA 12 50th Anniversary and continued to wear this scheme for several years.
