NASA launched 13 Saturn Vs from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida with no loss of crew or payload. It remains the largest and most powerful launch vehicle ever brought to operational status from a height, weight and payload standpoint. The Apollo 11 mission landing of men on the moon was powered by the Saturn V. Completed in three stages, the first stage had the most powerful engines, due to having to lift a fully fueled rocket off the ground.
