Hobby Master HA1315 A-10A Thunderbolt II "Ragin Cajuns"
specifically for close ground support the pilot is protected by titanium armor while being covered by a bubble canopy giving a commanding view. The Warthog has everything needed to survive, dual engines; self-sealing fuel cells; redundant flight control systems protected by titanium armor; a 30 mm seven-barrel Gatling gun; a wide array of bombs and missiles. This plane packs a heavy punch and can stay on scene a long time to deliver its payload. In the Gulf War, A-10s had a mission capable rate of 95.7 percent, flew 8,100 sorties and launched 90 percent of the AGM-65 Maverick missiles and were vital assets during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Noble Anvil.
In June 1982 the 926th TFG converted to the A-10 Thunderbolt II. In 1990 and 1991 they participated in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. In 1992 the group was re-designated the 926th FG and converted to F-16’s only to re-designated 926th FW in October 1994. In 1995 the 926th FW began conversion to the A/OA-10 Thunderbolt II which was completed in September 1997. After September 11, 2001 the 926th deployed to Bagram Airbase, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in early 2002.
